This website is dedicated to Gor Gor, in all it's glory, it's savagery, and in many cases, it's beauty. but also to it's absurdities as well. For those who are somewhat in the dark about the meaning of Gor, here is a thumbnail reference. Gor is a counter earth, invented in the 28 or so Gor novels written by John Norman. Regardless of what many die-hard Goreans will tell you, Norman is probably one of the worst writers ever to be found in print. His literary style, to put it very mildly, is often low grade agony to read. Bad though his books are, the Gor Novels have spawned at least one Magazine and two eminently forgettable movies. Be that as it may the Gor novels have found massive following, in the realms of irc, powwow, javachat, and probably a few other places as well. There is even some people who profess to follow the "Gorean Lifestyle" in real life. If this is indeed true, then, more power to them, for choosing the life they wish to lead, and to hell with what everyone else thinks. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| Ok, the books are terrible, the writing sucks, so what is this big attraction to Gor? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

Well, for one thing it is one of the final bastions against this epidemic of "political correctness" that so mires down our lives. It is male dominated, to the 10th degree (though there seems to be a growing number of Free Women who seem to think that their rights are the same as Free Men's - but more on that topic at a later date) On Gor, men rule. It's as simple as that. A woman's place is at the feet of a man, for her true condition is slavery. Furthermore, it is only in slavery that a woman truly blossoms, in grace, beauty, and, of course, sexual fulfillment. (or at least, that is how Norman sees it). Gor is D/s, and that is exciting to many, the Heretic included. But to say that Gor is merely a form of D/s is like saying an ocean is merely a body of salt water. Gor is all that, and much, much more. Gor is power. Gor is submission. Gor is erotic, and sensual, too. But Gor is honour (or at least it is supposed to be, though that trait is getting increasingly rare) and masculinity personified. Gor is also extremely silly at times too. The Heretic has seen two kajira almost come to blows over the definition of "first slave" and "second slave" while serving blackwine (coffee to the non goreans), free women swear free companionship to each other (an impossibility from a Gorean perspective) and other points to numerous to mention. Pettyness and cliques abound, and everybody except the Silk and Steel, hates the Silk and Steel. But that's the way it goes - people are people, even on Gor. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

This website, if the Old Heretic ever gets it going, hopes to become "The Lone Haranguer of Gor" cheerfully popping buttons off of stuffed tunics, and robes as well. (The Heretic is an equal opportunity gadfly) Agree with me or disagree.
